The Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice is a not-for-profit organization incorporated in 1991. It offers an interdisciplinary team of staff and professionally trained volunteers who provide supportive services to individuals and their families who are living with life-threatening illness.

OUR MISSION

The Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice is dedicated to excellence in the provision of supportive care to individuals in the Hamilton-Wentworth region who are living with a life-threatening illness. We achieve this goal through: partnerships with families, friends, caregivers and community agencies; open and honest communication;and accountability for our resources.

WHAT IS HOSPICE?

Hospice Palliative Care is the combination of active and compassionate therapies extended to comfort and support individuals and their caregivers who are living with a life-threatening illness. It is client-centered and strives to meet the physical, spiritual, emotional, and social needs of the clients and caregivers.

HISTORY

Dr. Bob Kemp, a family physician for more than 50 years, campaigned tirelessly for first class health care in the Hamilton and Stoney Creek regions. Dr. Bob along with a group of dedicated like-minded individuals pioneered the first Hospice for our city, which is now growing to encompass a full Centre for Hospice Palliative Care.Dr. Bob is a true visionary for our community, his efforts were also  fundamental in the building of St. Joseph's Ambulatory Centre in the east end of Hamilton.
