Bereavement Support
Dr.Bob Kemp Hospice offers bereavement support opportunities to the families of the individuals we support, and also to the public.
Here's a list of our Bereavement Support Programs:
Individual support is offered by staff or by volunteers who are specifically trained in this aspect. We do not provide counselling, but rather offer support through compassionate listening. This can be done in person, or by phone, which ever is preferred. There is no fee.
Support groups for adults experiencing loss through death are welcome to join with our staff Bereavement co-ordinator. Groups are kept small, usually between 6 and 8 individuals, with two Hospice facilitators. Participants are provided the opportunity to express themselves freely, be supported by others experiencing loss, or just sit and listen. We ensure confidentiality and compassion in a comfortable and professional environment. These Support Groups will begin in late Fall of 2007. To register or inquire, please contact Maureen Talbot.
An eight week support program for children experiencing loss due to death. Next program begins in the Fall of 2007 up at the New Centre on Stone Church. To register or inquire please contact Maureen Talbot.
The hospice offers varied bereavement education opportunities from short presentations to full programs. If you know a group or organization that may benefit from a Bereavement education presentation, please don't hesitate to call. We can specify to suit your needs.
